What are Hand-Woven Rugs?

A Hand-Woven rug can also be called a Kilim, or Flatweave and it uses what is called a "Slit-weave" technique. The Slit-weave technique uses only a warp yarn as the foundation, allowing the weaver to build the rug by interlacing the yarn, as the weft.

To avoid long vertical slits that can make a Hand-Woven rug not durable, most Kilim rugs are created with diagonal or horizontal patterns. This is why it's very common to see octagons, diamonds and triangular shapes in a Flatweave rug.

It is known that Kilim rugs were first used by the Egyptians, dating back to about 1400 B.C.

What makes a Hand-Woven rug so interesting?

1- Most Hand-Woven rugs are reversible.

2- Hand-Woven rugs are built with natural fibers, such as Wool, Cotton, and sometimes Sari-Silk can be added.

3- Hand-Woven Rugs don't shred. (Machine-made rugs use synthetic fibers, that constantly shred. You can search online and read this common review from people who have bought a Machine-made rug.)

Do I need To add Rug-pad?

Yes, a Rug-pad can be critical to your rug's performance and appearance.

Our Rug-pad protects the back of your rug, from grinding against the floors.

Our Rug-pad prevents a rug from slippage, reduces noise and provides extra walking comfort.
